Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our Therapy and Discharge Service team at the William Harvey Hospital. The successful candidate will work alongside colleagues within the team and in collaboration with local organisations to provide a high-quality service to a variety of patients across Urgent, Emergency, and Acute Medicine, supporting a seamless transition from the acute setting.
The team comprises Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistant Practitioners, and Discharge Managers who are vital in assessing and planning therapy needs and discharge arrangements for patients admitted through our busy Emergency Department. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated therapist who is looking for a new challenge in helping to continually develop the service and who wants to develop their people management skills with support from the Clinical Lead Therapist and senior colleagues.
Main duties of the job
1. Supporting the Clinical Lead in providing a high-quality therapy service to ensure safe, efficient, and effective discharge home with appropriate referrals into the community setting.
2. Collaborative working with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure efficient patient flow through prioritising the caseload and supporting therapy colleagues to organise their caseload appropriately.
3. Supporting the team in their development and assisting in the day-to-day running of the therapy service.
4. Providing support and professional development of junior staff.

Experience
* At least 3 years post-graduate experience at a senior level in the relevant clinical area
* Proven record of providing high-quality intervention for high-risk patients
* Clinical Audit

* Highly developed clinical skills in the relevant area
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Teaching/facilitating training
* Excellent organisational skills
* Up-to-date therapeutic moving and handling skills
