This opportunity is in the solution design and development arena for Desktop Publisher who will be responsible for producing high-quality documents, including brochures, reports, newsletters, and marketing materials, using desktop publishing software.
Job Description (Main Duties and Responsibilities):
Create and design layout for print and digital publications, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and project requirements.
Develop visually appealing and professional documents such as brochures, flyers, reports, newsletters, and presentations.
Format and style text, images, and graphics to create cohesive and engaging documents.
Ensure consistency in style, fonts, and overall design across all materials.
Review and edit content for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
Collaborate with writers, editors, and other team members to ensure high-quality output.
Utilize desktop publishing software (such as Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, and Microsoft Publisher) to create and edit documents.
Use graphic design software (such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator) to enhance visual elements.
Prepare files for print production, ensuring proper formatting and resolution.
Create digital versions of publications for online distribution, ensuring compatibility with various devices and platforms.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
Coordinate with clients, team members, and vendors to ensure project requirements and timelines are met.
Conduct quality checks on final outputs to ensure error-free and high-quality deliverables.
Implement feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve design and production processes.
Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience Needed [The candidate must demonstrate these in all stages of assessment]
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Communications, or a related field.
2 to 3 years of experience in a related field.
Proficiency in desktop publishing software such as Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, and Microsoft Publisher.
Experience with graphic design tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and CorelDRAW for creating and editing images and graphics.
Expertise in creating visually appealing layouts and compositions for print and digital media, including brochures, magazines, newsletters, and books.
Strong skills in photo editing and image manipulation using Adobe Photoshop or other image editing tools.
Knowledge of color theory, CMYK and RGB color models, and how to optimize designs for print and web.
Expertise in preparing print-ready files, including the use of bleeds, crop marks, and resolution (300 DPI for print).
Familiarity with PDF/X file formats and the use of tools like Adobe Acrobat for proofing and final output.
Strong skills in photo editing and image manipulation using Adobe Photoshop or other image editing tools.
Knowledge of color theory, CMYK and RGB color models, and how to optimize designs for print and web.
Expertise in preparing print-ready files, including the use of bleeds, crop marks, and resolution (300 DPI for print).
Understanding of prepress processes to ensure documents are ready for commercial printing, including color management and print proofs.
Basic understanding of UX/UI principles for creating user-friendly digital layouts, especially for websites or apps.
Experience with web-based design tools like Canva, Figma, or Sketch.
Knowledge of web formats like HTML and CSS for creating web-based publications or documents (e.g., newsletters or promotional content).
Basic understanding of HTML and CSS for creating web-compatible documents.
Familiarity with web design and digital publishing tools.
Familiarity with digital publishing formats and platforms, such as eBooks (EPUB, MOBI), web content, and interactive PDFs.
Experience with collaborative tools and platforms, such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and project management software like Trello or Asana.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
