Post: Male Personal Assistant to a young boy in the Ayr area.
Posts: 4 hours per week
Salary: Living wage rate – £12.00 per hour
Job Purpose: To work closely and flexibly with a young person who has Autism, to ensure he is appropriately supported to participate in a full range of opportunities in his life and to continue to develop and follow his hobbies and interests.
Employer: You will be employed by the family, who will be assisted to administer payroll and undertake the necessary employment support responsibilities by a relevant support organisation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Support the young person to engage in all aspects of community life and activities as directed by his family.
2. Accompany him to activities such as the cinema, coffee outings, bus trips to town, and potentially swimming.
3. Engage in home activities like games, arts and crafts, baking, or puzzles, depending on the young person's needs and guidance from his parents.
Training: Training in ASD would be an advantage, although training will be provided. Moving and assisting training will also be required as the young person uses a wheelchair. No personal care is needed.

* An understanding of how to support and facilitate in a way that empowers the person.
* Good interpersonal skills and values reflecting social inclusion.
* Excellent communication and listening skills.
* Good organisational skills.
* Understanding of the crucial role that family carers play and the value of their contribution.
Desirable:
* Relevant qualification(s).
* Working knowledge of good person-centred practice.
* Computer literate with the ability to use standard software packages and search engines.
Experience:
* Can draw on lived experience of positively supporting someone as a peer or similar.
* Can engage effectively and work in partnership with others.
* Has knowledge of ASD and non-verbal communication.
* Has supported people to achieve positive outcomes in their life.
