Regulatory SME - Credit Risk Focus
Broadgate Search is partnering with a retail financial institution to recruit a skilled Regulatory SME with a strong understanding of credit risk for a short-term contract.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with upcoming regulatory changes.
Role Overview:
As a Regulatory SME, you will initially be instrumental in leading a comprehensive gap analysis. You will be responsible for comparing the client's current credit risk calculations and reporting processes against the requirements of Basel 3.1 standards and Small Domestic Deposit Taker (SDDT) regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Spearhead the detailed gap analysis between the organization's current practices and the mandates of Basel 3.1 STD rules and SDDT requirements. This includes:
2. Developing a structured schedule outlining the relevant Basel 3.1 and SDDT calculation and reporting requirements.
3. Collaborating with subject matter experts across various business units to ascertain the current level of compliance and identify any existing gaps.
4. Documenting identified gaps and assessing the potential effort required for remediation.
5. Staying abreast of emerging industry interpretations and best practices related to Basel 3.1 and SDDT to ensure the organization aligns with regulatory expectations and industry norms.
6. Actively engage and build relationships with SMEs and business stakeholders across the organization.
7. Provide informed perspectives on the interpretation of regulatory requirements, drawing upon industry knowledge and best practices where specific guidance may be lacking.
8. Develop a comprehensive gap closure plan, outlining the estimated scope of work and anticipated timelines.
9. Effective and efficient utilization of personal time and the time of collaborating SMEs.
Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications:
1. Proven experience in interpreting complex regulatory requirements, specifically within Basel 3.1 and SDDT frameworks, with a focus on credit risk implications.
2. Demonstrable experience in leading and executing gap analysis projects against new regulatory mandates.
3. Track record of successfully estimating the scope and resource implications of regulatory gap closure programs, including activity planning, potential costs, internal resource impact, and realistic timelines.
4. Strong understanding of prevailing industry practices concerning Basel 3.1 and SDDT requirements within credit risk management.
Skills, Abilities & Behaviours:
1. Excellent regulatory interpretation skills, particularly within credit risk.
2. Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building abilities.
3. Advanced proficiency in Excel, including the use of pivot tables.
4. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
5. Competent in Microsoft Office Suite.
6. Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
