Job overview
We are seeking a Research Delivery Lead to manage leads and supervise a team of Clinical Research Nurses, Clinical Research Practitioners (CRP’s), and Research Therapists on the development and running of clinical research studies within their specialist field. Strong leadership is key whilst drawing on research delivery knowledge and experience to ensure effective research delivery for both commercial and academic studies (observational as well as complex interventional studies).
KMPT’s Clinical Research Delivery team supports a wide variety of research studies in both Mental Health and Dementia and has an excellent track record in recruiting to time and target.
The post requires self-motivation and enthusiasm, coupled with the ability to inspire others, solve problems, influence change, and communicate effectively at all levels.
Main duties of the job
* The Research Delivery Lead will provide effective leadership for the Clinical Research Team and be responsible for leading the delivery of safe and effective clinical research to an agreed quality, performance, and financial framework whilst providing a high-quality service.
* Development of KMPT’s Mental Health and Dementia Portfolio of Research Activity.
* To be responsible for providing leadership, support, training and education.
* To demonstrate specialist knowledge whilst acting as a resource and role model.
* To be accountable and responsible for the standards of care provided by the Clinical Research Team and for ensuring that the clinical aspects of all research undertaken safeguards the wellbeing of patients and is conducted according to the ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines for Research.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Ensure the patient is treated according to the research schedule.
* Coordinate and monitor participants.
* Record and report adverse events/serious adverse events.
* Work with the South East Regional Research Delivery Network and KMPT’s R&I Department to develop a proactive recruitment system to ensure that recruitment targets are met.

Person specification
Qualifications
* RMN/RGN or equivalent qualification in health or social care or Psychology (or similar) degree (2:1 or above).
* Higher degree/formal study of research design and methods in clinical or social settings.
* MSc (or MRes) with research component.
* Knowledge of the governance and legislative framework for conducting clinical research studies, including Good Clinical Practice.
Experience
* Demonstrable experience of working in an NHS environment with substantial/track record of service user contact.
* Experience of providing support/supervision/ managing and motivation of staff.
* Experience of Mental health or Dementia clinical research within clinical/hospital environment.
* Specialist knowledge of research methodology.
* Experience of supporting, delivering and overseeing multiple research projects.
* An understanding of the needs of service users who may wish to be involved in research.
* Experience of working with clinicians and across organisational boundaries and liaising with other departments, NHS organisations etc.
* Experience of identifying and interpreting national policy.
* Good understanding of and commitment to mental health and Dementia research.
* Experience of working within the UK clinical research structure.

* Highly confident communicator and ability to explain complex, technical issues to non-technical staff both orally and in writing.
* An open and facilitative style of leadership which can be adapted when necessary to ensure delivery of objectives.
