The Roles
SOR Supervisor – Planned Works
In this role, you’ll supervise planned works, ensuring all scheduled activities are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Responsibilities include managing teams, coordinating subcontractors, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and delivering excellent service to our clients.
Defect Supervisor
As Defect Supervisor, you’ll oversee the response and repair of highway defects, ensuring swift and effective resolutions. This includes managing defect inspection crews, scheduling and prioritising works, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities (for both roles)
* Lead, manage, and motivate operational teams to deliver work to specification and timeframes.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
* Coordinate resources, including materials, plant, and subcontractors.
* Monitor and report on performance metrics, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained.
* Liaise with stakeholders, including clients and public bodies, to ensure effective communication and delivery.
* Assist with planning and programming works to maximise efficiency.
* Ensure accurate record-keeping and timely submission of reports.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking confident, organised, and motivated professionals with a strong background in highway maintenance or a similar field. Key requirements include:
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience in supervising highways or civil engineering projects.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.
* Ability to manage teams and subcontractors effectively.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
* Competence in IT and experience with asset management systems (preferred).
Desirable Skills:
* Relevant qualifications, such as an NVQ Level 3 in Construction or equivalent.
* NRSWA Supervisor Certification.
* Experience in SOR (Schedule of Rates) and/or reactive defect management.
