Actual salary: £27,712 - £30,250 dependant on qualifications Plus £2000 Welcome bonus For HLTA with SEN Experience*
Hourly rate: £15.51 - £16.93 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week - Term Time only - Start time 8.15am - Finish time Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 4.45pm. Thursday 5pm and Friday 4pm

Part of the Aurora Group, Aurora Redehall School, in Smallfield, Surrey are currently looking to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant with THRIVE. Redehall School supports children aged 6-11 years with ASD as a primary need in KS1 and KS2.
Aurora Redehall School is linked to Caterham Education Centre, they share the same Principal and Head of School, however each site has its own Assistant Head and team of Teachers and TAs.. There is also a full therapy team on site to support staff and students. Although the sites operate separately, students and staff do cross between sites.

Key Duties:
Pupil Welfare and Safeguarding
* Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT
* Provide meaningful feedback on pupil behaviour, relationships and attitudes.
* Monitor pupils conduct and behaviour throughout the learning process and intervene to resolve highly complex, difficult or very challenging issues and to keep records of incidents, health, behaviour etc. as necessary
* Work with pupils on therapy or care programmes, designed and supervised by a therapist/care professional.
Delivering interventions
Plan and deliver individualised programmes of support for children to develop their emotional literacy, including:
* Awareness of own and other people’s emotions
* Development of an increased range of emotional vocabulary
* Management of stress, grief, anxiety, anger and conflict
* Development of social interaction and friendship skills
* Promotion of a realistic self-concept and good self-esteem
* Coping with significant life changes including loss and bereavement
* Developing Resilience skills
Supporting the delivery of therapeutic provision identified within the schools universal and targeted offers.
* To deliver assigned programmes of therapeutic interventions to individual, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary within agreed systems of supervision.
* To provide whole-class strategies around emotional literacy including working with teachers on positive behaviour support plans, ways of developing emotional check-ins and a bank of coping strategies
* Select and adapt appropriate resources/methods to facilitate agreed therapeutic activities.
Pupils Attainment and Progress
* Assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment.
* Assess the needs of pupils and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support pupils’ learning.
Monitoring and Recording
* Support and update progress against EHCP and short-term outcomes
* Lead the planning and evaluation of ELSA/THRIVE activities.
* Participate in the planning and evaluation of learning activities.
* Provide meaningful feedback on pupil attainment and progress.
* Monitor and record pupil responses and learning achievement, drawing any issues which cannot be resolved to the attention of the teacher.
* Ensure that all documentation is completed correctly for records of incidents, health, behaviour, etc as necessary.

Skills and Qualifications
* THRIVE qualification or ability to achieve within first 2 years in post
* GCSE pass above C (or 4 in the new GCSE system) in English and Maths
* Level 5 qualification related to the subject area is desirable
* Mental health first aid training desirable
* The Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification, or demonstrate equivalent skill level.
