Nurse / Paramedic Clinical Advisor - Bedford - NHS 111
HUC provides the NHS 111 and Out of Hours GP service to over 4.5 million patients across Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, West Essex and the South West of England. Main duties of the job
Principle tasks will include:
Clinical
* Assessing patients over the phone, using the NHS Pathways systems alongside your existing clinical knowledge and expertise.
* Using your clinical knowledge to signpost patients to the most appropriate level of care, including emergency ambulance, GP appointment, or home management advice.
Quality assurance and safety
* Understanding, adhering to, and promoting the principles of information governance in relation to access to clinical records and handling patient identifiable information.
* Promoting local policies for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, ensuring timely referrals to appropriate services.
* Adhering to principles of risk management in relation to patient and staff wellbeing and reporting identified risks.
* Promoting local best practices in clinical assessment and provision of advice to service users and their representatives.

Job responsibilities
You will be responsible for assessing callers with a wide spectrum of clinical conditions, advising them on home care management, next steps and referring them on to further care when appropriate. The computer-based clinical decision system will facilitate and support the advice given.
Clinical Advisors are required to work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the service provided by delivering high-quality, evidence-based healthcare to meet the immediate needs of the patient.
You will demonstrate a commitment to high-quality service, excellence in clinical practice, and continuous professional development, which are integral to the role and the development of the service.

Person Specification
* Registered nurse or paramedic.
* Post-registration training/consolidation and experience in at least two healthcare settings or specialties relevant to profession.
