HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE Acting as the formal Deputy to the Director of Adult Social Care (DASS), you will direct, lead and determine the service delivery strategy and operational provision. It will be your role to ensure we meet the current and future adult social care needs of our residents within national and local performance and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Director of Adults and Housing, you will work closely through matrix arrangements with the Executive Director, People Department to deliver the wider people department outcomes. This is an opportunity to really make a difference and ensure the delivery of high-quality services and positive outcomes for adults in South Gloucestershire. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING You will interpret the national strategy for adult social care and manage a function of operational, managerial and front-line staff to deliver local priorities within this framework. Overseeing the assurance of the safety and quality of the councils’ adult social care functions, you will ensure good outcomes from CQC assurance visits. Regularly, you will manage services which directly impact on the council’s ambition to focus capacity and bring together services identifying and supporting those most in need and helping people to help themselves. You will be the nominated fit and proper individual for CQC registered services ensuring compliance and good inspection outcomes. Leading the provision of operational and strategic Mental Health Services, you will work to deliver the S75 Agreement with partner organisations. As required, you will represent the council in partnership committees for the Integrated Care System and of the South Gloucestershire Locality Partnership. You will effectively manage budgets to achieve value for money. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU You must be a Registered Social Worker or Occupational Therapist with a degree and/or recognised post graduate management qualification in a relevant subject. You will need authoritative knowledge and technical expertise in a specialist area and overall functional and business understanding with the ability to predict and plan for the future. We require you to have proven experience of strategic development across the managed area, understanding and influencing the interconnectivities. Given the elements of the role, you need to have a substantial level of strategic leadership experience, providing depth and breadth of knowledge to act with credibility at this level both internally and externally. You will need substantial people management experience, including managing professional, qualified staff in a complex area. It is essential that you have a comprehensive understanding of local government's social and political role, including knowledge of all relevant legislation, statutory guidance, local policy and procedures, national codes, and multi-disciplinary practice. We require you to have a strong financial and commercial acumen with significant experience in strategically managing budgets and financial expenditure. You will also have the ability to identify and develop income generation opportunities.
