The Mental Health Support Team at North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare are looking to recruit to 2 full time, Band 6 Senior Education Mental Health Practitioners.
The successful candidates will:
* Work as part of the MHST team to manage a defined case-load with a focus on providing focused assessment and evidence-based intervention for children and young people (CYP) with mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their parents/carers.
* Support EMHPs with developing their clinical practice, embedding whole school approach and school engagement.
* Be expected to provide Case Management and Clinical Skills Supervision to a number of EMHPs/CYWPs within the service including Trainee EMHPs.
* Be able to work flexibly across a range of education providers.
Main duties of the job
Work in partnership to deliver a range of mental health interventions. This may involve group work or direct work with children/young people as well as offering specialist mental health-based consultation, and advice around mental health.
Be responsible and ensure the effective co-ordination of clinical care provided including consideration to safeguarding and clinical risk issues where indicated.
Work with clinical and educational staff to identify children and young people with emerging mental health needs.
Provide supervision and caseload management to the new EMHP/CWP practitioners and EMHP trainees.
Support junior staff members with supervision and discussion about cases with a higher level of risk and potential co-morbid presentations.
Be able to deputise when needed in the absence of the team leader.

Job responsibilities
Assess and deliver outcome focused, evidence-based interventions in educational settings for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, working at all times in collaboration with and giving respect to the education function of the setting in which the post-holder is deployed.
Work in partnership to support children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their parents/carers, families and educators in the self-management of presenting difficulties.
Work in effective, evidence-based partnership with children, young people and their families and educators, in the development of plans for the intervention and agreed outcomes.
Support and empower children, young people and their parents/carers and families and their educators to make informed choices about the interventions being offered.
Operate at all times from an inclusive values base, which recognises and respects diversity.
Accept referrals within educational settings according to agreed local and national protocols.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* CBT qualification for children/young people and families.
* Successful completion of the CYP IAPT EMHP supervisor training or willing to undertake. This training is at postgraduate certificate/diploma level.
Experience
* Ability to carry out 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with children.
* Ability to carry out 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with families.
Knowledge
* An understanding of evidence-based, low intensity interventions for mild to moderate mental health needs.
* An understanding of mental health and wellbeing support within community settings.
