Job overview
The Assistant Finance Manager - Costing is a key member of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust's costing team with a focus on the following areas:
* Undertaking the costing of services including National Cost Collection returns, patient level costing (PLICS) submissions and Service Line Reporting.
* Producing timely and accurate management information which requires both technical knowledge of accounting procedures and an understanding of the business of the Trust.
* Providing costing and financial information for internal and external purposes.
You will:
* Produce patient level costing (PLICS) data.
* Produce Trust mandatory national cost collection returns.
* Liaise with Clinical Informatics, IT system administrators and Clinical Departments to obtain and understand data to be used in the production of costing, service line reporting and other returns.
* Work with Clinicians and managers in the Trust to understand how services are delivered and reflect this in costing and reporting systems.
* Deputise for the Project Accountant as required.
Advert
* Developing and preparing high quality costing information to support the annual costing returns cycle, the development of Patient Level Costing (PLICS), value based healthcare, benchmarking and service improvements.
* Submitting costing returns to tight deadlines and in accordance with costing guidance.
* Responsible for the administration of the costing system and to be integral to developments, including the incorporation of new data sources.
* Managing an end to end process of developing cost methodologies and reporting cost data, where there is no precedent.
* Develop areas of expertise and act as a point of contact.
* Proactively work to continuously improve current costing methodologies with internal and external stakeholders. Identifying potential costing developments to enhance the quality and accuracy of the information.
* Handle large volumes of cost data from a multitude of sources and be responsible for converting into meaningful intelligence and clear messages for internal and external use.
* Be an expert in costing intelligence and data analytics (including Power BI and SQL), developing analytical tools to assist in data interrogation and presentation of data both internally and externally.
* Work in a customer focused manner with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including finance colleagues, service managers and clinicians to provide costing advice on complex costing data and queries.
