Including you About this opportunity We have a great opportunity within the Credit Platform, for a transformational Engineering Lead within the Commercial Credit Decisioning Lab. You'll work alongside the Lab PO in shaping the investment and vision for the Lab, and as a result centre on setting the strategic direction for the engineering teams to demonstrate thought leadership on contemporary technical delivery, across the entire lifecycle, from idea to realisation of value. The platform vision seeks to support the Group’s growth ambitions through the provision of industry leading Credit Risk management and decisioning capabilities, with the Commercial Credit Decisioning lab looking to optimise the Banks credit decisioning capability for origination and in-life risk management, utilising market leading technology and new data sources. What you’ll do Collaboration is critical to the success of this role. As the Engineering Lead you'll operate collaboratively with the Lab Product Owner, other labs, technical teams, other platforms as well as other engineering leads within the platform. You’ll work hand-in-hand leading the Lab teams: Jointly assume the ownership, development, and accountability of Lab strategic and quarterly Objectives and Key Results and are incentivised against a balanced set of business and technology outcomes. Optimise, evolve and deliver an efficient operating model. Support shaping of the backlog and prioritising outcomes which are essential to keep the solution / product in good health. You'll handle the successful delivery and maintenance of the core technology agenda within the Lab providing strategic direction and oversight of Data and Systems. You’ll be responsible for the technology roadmap, management of technical debt and other technical demands. You'll be accountable for the technical solutions team that will design, build, integrate, deploy and run the systems which support Commercial Credit Decisioning with a focus on quality, resilience, low latency and scalability What you’ll need The role will be suited to someone who combines inspirational leadership skills with strong technical experience and comes from an engineering background. As an inspirational leader, you: Enable a culture based on the fundamentals of psychological safety instilling confidence, trust and honesty throughout your teams. Create a culture of learning and continuous improvement through a “Fail Fast, Learn Faster” mentality within teams to experiment and test new ways of engineering, to act as a change agent for engineering and team culture and to cultivate a systems-thinking led design approach. Able to nurture teams, support them through a culture of openness and trust, and to make teams the best they can be Have a strong passion for and technical understanding of credit decisioning systems and can provide support, knowledge and mentoring to the teams. This includes ensuring teams use the engineering best practices, tooling, and methods and to encourage them to contribute towards the wider LBG engineering community Work with Agile Coaches to create opportunities for learning and growth for all Chapters whilst championing the principles and aims of transformation change Encourage engineers to join Communities of Practice, Guilds and Working Groups to deliver peer-to-peer mentoring and joint engineering initiatives via coordinated sessions and Inner-Source delivery methods. As an Engineer, you: Will have extensive software engineering background with one or more programming languages. Understand the business area to facilitate the best solution design with team members and product owners. Are environment aware, can identify technical impediments / bottlenecks and work directly to resolve. Understand Systems Thinking and Service Design to mitigate reactive solutions that leads to further technical debt. Understand measurement of change and work with teams to provide reassurance and mitigate behavioural change. Significant experience with agile development methods & tooling e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence, and experience of leading & working as part of an agile team as well as understanding the relationship between agile definitions and automated delivery. Understand the benefits of BDD & TDD and ensure engineers write upfront tests against team defined stories Are industry aware and understand the importance of new technical approaches to evolve solutions and the experience of the team. Accountable for maximising the safe delegation of authority and empowerment to Lab Chapters in line with the above and core principles of Transformation.
