Description
GSC R&D Engineering Services provides Facilities Management, Engineering and Capital Projects delivery for Technical R&D sites within GSC’s Engineering and EHS organisation. We do this by simplifying decision making and clarifying accountabilities at all levels to drive performance. We leverage talent within our GSK and Service Partner organizations and deploy engineering and technology solutions that will drive efficiencies and compliance.
This is to enable scientists to focus on discovery and development of GSK’s portfolio of products, to impact the health of billions of people by the end of the decade.
The primary purpose of the Automation Engineer role is to provide ongoing engineering support for managing infrastructure systems at the U.K R&D Sites. The role will manage consistent execution and ensure compliance within Automation and OT Security engineering programmes across the site through provision of engineering and project management skills. The role will support consistent delivery of facilities, engineering service and engineering compliance and have oversight and ownership for all Industrial Control Systems as well as providing hands-on Automation engineering support (L2 support) wherever required to assist site Operations and capital projects. The role will work closely with the site operations team, capital projects and service partner organisations.
This role will foster a culture of transparency and trust with operations teams, service partners and customers by being present a minimum of 4 days on site per week.
We create a place where people can grow, be their best, be safe, and feel welcome, valued and included. We offer a competitive salary, an annual bonus based on company performance, healthcare and wellbeing programmes, pension plan membership, and shares and savings programme.
We embrace modern work practices; our Performance with Choice programme offers a hybrid working model, empowering you to find the optimal balance between remote and in-office work.
In this role you will:

4. Have oversight of all the small capital projects which have an impact on Automation/OT/ICS systems. Ensure the GSK Automation and OT Cyber Security standards are always applied. Have oversight/input of the commissioning/testing applied in each project to meet the engineering standards.
5. Ensure any ICS equipment is maintained and installed to meet the site requirements. Provide day-to-day automation support (L2 support) for operation areas on site. Approve Business Impact Assessments and Engineering Automation Change Controls.
