Brief Description
Who are we looking for?
You will work with colleagues to develop pedestrian simulation models and interpret these based on guidance documents. Typically, you will be involved in data collection and site visits at stations across the country.
You will also be able to put to good use any other transport planning skills you may have, with opportunities to work on countrywide accessibility studies, travel plans, parking at stations, data insights and transport modelling.
In summary you will:
·Examine data to extract outputs required.
·Creation and development of a pedestrian simulation models.
·Write up reports based on findings from data and observations.
·Present findings to project stakeholders and attend relevant meetings.
·Work closely with project team members to deliver projects to agreed timescales and budgets.

What does the average day look like?
We’re looking to recruit a Station Capacity Specialist for our successful station planning team. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm and an interest in station planning.
The successful applicant will be flexible, self-motivated, be able to work successfully as part of a team and be someone who wants to make a difference in their work and can inspire others! In addition, you will need to:
·Have strong common-sense, numeracy and problem-solving skills
·Have excellent communication with strong report writing capability
·Be able to work under pressure and have proven success in meeting deadlines.
·Be collaborative and self-assured team worker with ability to work on your own
·Be keen to adapt and learn new skills when necessary
Not required but if you have experience in the following, please make this clear in your CV:
·Software packages such as Legion or Visum
·AutoCAD
·Excel or statistical software
·Data collection, evaluation and interpretation
·Power BI
·Python
Essential Criteria
·Degree in a relevant subject, such as Geography, Mathematics, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience.
·Experience of applying pedestrian modelling software packages, e.g. Legion, on a range of projects.
·Awareness and knowledge of transport modelling theory/ method, data collection, analytical techniques & appraisal methods.
·Ability to analyse and solve modelling & appraisal problems and to accurately interpret results.
·Awareness and knowledge of the application of UK standards relating to station design, specifications and transport planning solutions. .
·Good presentation skills, adjusting presentation style to differing audiences
·Good communication skills, both written and oral, able to communicate technical and management aspects of work to a senior audience.
·Proficient in Excel, with some experience of macros, Word, and PowerPoint.
·Good appreciation of project risk issues and application of these to day-to-day tasks.
