About the School
Runnymede St. Edward’s Catholic Primary School is a vibrant and nurturing educational community that opened as a voluntary aided school in September 2020. The school is the official Metropolitan Cathedral Choir school and welcomes Choristers from Year 3. We are part of the Gaudete Trust and operate under the Trusteeship of the Christian Brothers. We have an excellent team of staff who are all committed to ensuring every child receives the best possible education in an exciting, happy, safe, and secure environment. Our dedication to high-quality teaching and learning is at the forefront of our mission. In March 2023, Ofsted rated the school as 'Good' overall, with 'Outstanding' provision for Personal Development and Behaviour and Attitudes. This was the first inspection the school had received. Our school has been consistently above national average in end of Key Stage results and in the top 10% of schools nationally in Reading at the end of Key Stage 2.
About the Role
Due to the continued expansion of the school (to a 2 form entry school), the Governors are wishing to appoint a new Teacher to the school. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Class Teacher who is passionate about nurturing young minds and inspiring a lifelong love of learning. This is a unique opportunity to join a thriving and highly over-subscribed growing Catholic primary school that places children at the heart of everything we do. As a member of our dynamic teaching team, you will play a vital role in shaping a rich and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued, challenged, and supported. The successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, a collaborative spirit, and a willingness to contribute fully to the life of our school. Whether you are an early career teacher or an experienced practitioner, we welcome applicants who are eager to grow professionally and uphold the values and ethos of our Edmund Rice community.
Personal Qualities
We are looking for an individual who is not only an outstanding classroom practitioner but also a passionate role model, committed to fostering a positive and inspiring learning environment. The successful candidates will:
1. Have a commitment to the Catholic ethos of the school and be expected to sign the Catholic teacher contract and hold the CCRS qualification or be willing to complete it.
2. Demonstrate a deep understanding of the National Curriculum and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that inspire curiosity and achievement.
3. Be reflective, forward-thinking, and open to continuous professional development.
4. Have high expectations for all pupils and use assessment effectively to inform teaching and promote progress.
5. Create a classroom culture that is inclusive, nurturing, and rooted in mutual respect.
6. Show a genuine commitment to supporting the Catholic ethos and values of our school community.
7. Be enthusiastic team players who contribute actively to school life and collaborate positively with colleagues, parents, and carers.
8. Bring energy, creativity, and a proactive attitude to every aspect of their teaching and wider school responsibilities.
9. Genuinely care about the children and families in our school.
10. In the spirit of Edmund Rice, all staff must lead an extracurricular club and be willing to attend overnight residential visits.
How to Apply
Completed application forms and supplementary forms should be emailed to Mrs Riley, School Business Manager. Our school is committed to safeguarding children and promoting children’s welfare. This post is subject to all the relevant pre-employment checks set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education, including an enhanced DBS certificate. A tour of the school will be held on Thursday 24th April at 4pm. Please book onto this by telephoning our main school office. Observations preferably in your current setting will be held on 30th April or 6th May.
