Purpose of the role
The incumbent in this role will have full responsibility for the profit and health & safety of the Heidelberg Materials Aggregates plants located within a defined area. The Area General Manager (AGM) will manage and lead a designated team of commercial and operational staff working closely with the customer service team at 1MC.
The AGM should successfully lead the team of Operations Manager, Territory Sales Managers, Plant Production Managers and Internal Sales Representatives to deliver the area business strategy.
The AGM will develop the sales strategy by developing a clear Market Strategy Plan (MSP) and deliver the operational performance measures, improve sustainability and deliver Capex on budget and in time.
To constantly seek to improve existing performance levels, and to identify and then pursue opportunities for further business operational efficiencies and growth.
Key Accountabilities
* Achieve the highest possible standards in Health & Safety.
* Lead, inspire, motivate and develop the individual capabilities of the sales and operational teams to drive the execution of the defined area business strategy.
* Develop and update quarterly a Market Strategy Plan (MSP) and drive performance throughout the area to achieve targets for sales volumes, selling price and margin.
* Ensure that the TSMs are pre-planning their activity – both digital and face-to-face - in a structured efficient manner which is aligned to their Territory Plan.
* Ensure TSM call cycles for customers and prospects defined and adhered to. Use a variety of digital media, including video calls, to maintain close customer contact. Call cycle objectives should be set in the customer management plan (CMP).
* Implement a commercial and operational management cycle for your team that also incorporates the customer service team at 1MC.
* Operating to the highest level of environmental objectives in line with Hanson’s Environmental Management Plan. Action and deliver a plan of continuous improvement in this area.
* Ensure all statutory legislation and company regulations are adhered to with respect to all operational activities.
* Achieve optimum production levels in line with commercial activity at optimum value for money. Continually advance operational improvements to improve efficiency with the production functions.
* Quality: Working with the technical function to ensure operational procedures are such that the highest quality levels are achieved at the most efficient operational cost.
Education
Of graduate calibre, preferably with relevant University degree or other recognised tertiary /vocational education.
