About the role
Applicants are invited for a Senior Applications Specialist position to oversea the three microarray streams at UCL Genomics, the main genomics facility at UCL which is based in the Zayed Centre for Research into Rare Disease in Children. This post has arisen due to a significant increase in academic, clinical and industrial projects, both nationally and internationally, to this important stream. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with significant leadership experience, a thorough understanding of microarray profiling, data analysis and reporting, to join our collaborative genomics facility. This is a dynamic role and the successful applicant will join a very busy facility managing up to eight applications specialists and other members of the facility to provide high quality genomic service provision to both internal and external users in academic and clinical groups and will manage the facility’s expanding commercial project portfolio. This is a full time post funded until 31st December in the first instance with the possibility of extension.
About you
We are seeking to appoint a creative and highly motivated Senior Application Specialist with prime interest microarray profiling and service provision. The position will lead the hundreds of projects across three streams at UCL Genomics currently consisting of eight Application Specialists. The postholder will be responsible for microarray project oversight and management, procurement of microarray projects and funding, high value financial management and auditing, efficient day-to-day operation of microarray processing and may be required to assist with other facility projects. The position contains a strong element of collaboration and service provision, and the post holder will be expected to represent and market the facility in this area through representation at networks, consortia and symposia at national and international level. The post holder will be also lead on the expanding commercial branch of the facility. The post holder will be expected to provide updates and reports, through written documentation and presentations to the director as well as collaborators and will work closely with scientists, clinicians, industry professionals, service facility providers, funders, and PIs as well as other facility staff to ensure high quality data is delivered in a timely manner.
