This is a hugely exciting time to be part of driving change in Dumfries and Galloway Council. This will also take place within a highly fluid and changing policy context which will require us to be flexible and agile to respond to changing demands and requirements. To support this critical work, we are seeking to recruit a Strategic Planning and Business Development Manager to support Education, Skills and Community Wellbeing Directorate in taking forward this agenda. The postholder will play a key role in working across the Directorate to deliver best value within the resources we have available whilst identifying, designing and implementing complex change across the services we provide. We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who has extensive experience of delivering a variety of standard and complex projects and has experience of working in a public service environment.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate discipline or have significant experience at a senior level within an organisation.
Possession of a strategic and programme management qualification would be desirable.
You will have experience of planning, developing and implementing change and development programmes alongside a proven and consistent track record of achieving strategic programme outcomes.
As the Strategic Planning and Business Development Manager for Education, Skills and Community Wellbeing, you will hold a senior strategic management position responsible for developing and driving the strategy for the Directorate. This includes gathering and analysing key data, ensuring alignment with national and local priorities, and developing actionable strategies for the future.
As part of the education senior management team, you will have the opportunity to have a lasting impact on the delivery of public services and will help to drive forward essential projects that support children, young people and communities across Dumfries and Galloway.
You will possess effective communication, numeracy, negotiation, influencing and project management skills as well as the ability to ensure organisational and service readiness for change through aligning values, structures, systems, skills, style, staff and strategy.
Requirements
Knowledge of current legislation, guidance and national policies relating to education and learning is desirable.
