ADAS, part of the RSK Group are looking to appoint a Project Archaeologist based out their Derby office and with regular travel to various sites when required. This role is a full time, permanent appointment. ADAS is a growing business within the RSK Group, which is one of Europe's leading multidisciplinary environmental consultancies and our Archaeology and Historic Building business comprises a highly skilled team focused on providing historic environment advice and consultancy throughout the planning process from pre-land acquisition to the discharge of planning conditions. Requirements: Previous professional experience working in commercial archaeological fieldwork. Proven high ability in archaeological recording techniques and accurate record keeping. Experience in preparation of Health and Safety site documentation, WSIs and grey literature mitigation reports. Proven ability of archaeological supervision of plant. Ability to carry out manual work in an outdoor environment in all weathers. Full clean UK driving licence Degree level education or higher in a relevant subject. Desirable: Working knowledge of DGPS surveying techniques PCIfA accreditation or higher grade with the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists. Safety accreditation (e.g. CAT and Genny Training; SSSTS; off-road driving). Responsibilities: Carrying out archaeological watching briefs and monitoring of ground investigation works, trial trenching evaluations and strip, map and sample excavations to a high standard. Assisting with geoarchaeological fieldwork under the supervision of our geoarchaeologist. Producing Written Schemes of Investigations (WSIs), archaeological fieldwork reports and project archives for small-scale projects in accordance with relevant legislation, planning policy and CIfA Standards and guidance. To ensure that health, safety and wellbeing methodologies, documentation and policies are prepared, understood and followed by the on-site archaeological team on site to ensure a safe working environment. Working with the in-house archaeological consultants and other staff on site to producing Risk Assessments and site audits. Ensuring that work is completed to the required legislative standard, delivered on time, meets project profit targets, and is delivered to the Client’s satisfaction and of a high archaeological standard.
