The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is a vibrant department which has strong research expertise in Applied Analysis, Continuum Mechanics and Industrial Mathematics, Numerical Analysis, Imaging and inverse problems modelling and AI, Marine Population Modelling, Mathematical Biology, Epidemiology and Statistical Informatics, Applied Statistics and Stochastic Analysis. We have a distinguished track record of conducting high quality research in mathematics and statistics applied to a wide range of real world problems.
The Department has also developed distinctive teaching modules for our own degree programmes, as well as for scientists and engineers across the University, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The Department is committed to Athena SWAN principles, as recognised by a Bronze Award.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Statistics for a fixed term period of 2 years. The postholder will play a key role in delivering the Department’s strategic direction, and the University’s vision for 2030. You will actively contribute to research activities and collaborations both within the University and with our external partners. You will play a key role in growing our postgraduate programmes in Statistics, and you will contribute to UG and PGT teaching, assessment and project supervision.
To be considered for the role, applicants should have a special research interest in the area of statistics applied to, for example, health or data science with interdisciplinary research aligned to one of our Strathclyde 2030 research themes.
