We are seeking a 1:1 Support Assistant to work closely with a primary-aged student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in our welcoming SEN primary school in Irlam. This is a fantastic opportunity to use creativity and tailored strategies to help a student thrive in a safe and structured environment.
Responsibilities:
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support, helping to create a positive and engaging learning experience
* Use a range of strategies to keep the student engaged in activities, fostering independence and confidence
* Work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to adapt learning to the student’s needs
* Support the development of communication, social, and emotional skills in a patient and understanding manner
* Use de-escalation techniques and a calm, proactive approach to help manage moments of challenge

Minimum Requirements:
* Someone with a patient, resilient, and adaptable nature
* Experience working with children with ASD and/or additional needs (preferred but not essential)
* A passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
* The ability to think creatively and use different techniques to engage and motivate students
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
