Job summary This locum consultant post is to support the ENT team with both surgical and clinical work following the surge of clinical activity and to support the reduction of the backlog following the Covid-19 pandemic, for a six month period. Work will be based at both the Royal Stoke and County Hospitals. The team requires support from an enthusiastic ENT surgeon, ideally post CCT who is looking for a consultant experience before a substantive post and who can manage all aspects of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery. Main duties of the job Specific surgical skills relating to general ENT surgery are required to assist with the surgical caseload. Medical education qualifications and experience are also highly desirable for this role. The appointed applicant will have an integral role in assisting in waiting list backlogs, with routine new referrals, follow up appointments and general ENT operating lists. Successful applicants would be expected to take part in the on-call rota for the department based on a 1:9 weekday frequency and 1:14 weekend frequency as this is shared with Mid Cheshire NHS Trust. The department prides itself on a cohesive and congenial working relationship between 9 consultants, who collectively provide a comprehensive portfolio of general and specialist ENT services, including anterior/lateral skull base surgery, tertiary rhinology/otology, paediatric airway surgery, tertiary head and neck and craniofacial/reconstructive surgery. The applicant will be expected to have paediatric airway experience to cover the tertiary paediatric service of the recently opened 'Staffordshire Children's Hospital'.
