Temporary Communications Officer/Admin – Marketing/PR

Pay Rate: £17.12 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 2 months
City: Sandbach, Cheshire
The purpose of the role is to plan, deliver and advise about communications campaigns that promote the priorities of CEC.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement cost-effective, creative, audience-specific communications plans and products, that promote the Council and that support the Council’s business objectives, using a wide range of digital and traditional channels.
2. Commission cost-effective, creative, audience-specific communications products from a range of internal and external providers including media relations officers, online services team and Creative Design and Print Framework suppliers.
3. Set, monitor and evaluate SMART communications objectives for communications activity, including both output and outcome measures.
4. Contribute to a coordinated schedule of communications activity for Cheshire East Council.
5. Contribute to a comprehensive body of marketing and communications intelligence to inform and support delivery of the Council’s communications objectives.
6. Build an influential network of internal and external contacts as an enabling resource to support delivery of the Council’s communications objectives.
7. Advise, influence and challenge colleagues and service delivery partners at all levels on their communications objectives and requirements.
8. Maintain up-to-date skills and knowledge of communications tools and technology and use them to maximise effectiveness of communications activity.
Qualifications:
1. Degree or equivalent qualification / experience in a communications discipline.
2. RSA2 typing speed qualification or an equivalent level of experience.
Skills & Experience:
1. Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
2. Professional experience in a marketing or PR communications role.
3. Excellent understanding of marketing / PR communications theories and concepts.
4. Excellent copywriting for a range of audiences and channels including media releases.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
6. Demonstrable understanding of reputation management in a local government setting.
7. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite, Mosaic).
