Join our new Housing Governance and Involvement Team and play a key role in delivering robust governance and regulatory compliance. We are a small team of six officers and are one of three teams in the wider Housing Improvement and Governance Team. We provide support across the whole of Housing Services to improve business processes and governance.
The Role
As Governance and Assurance Officer, you will oversee the Housing Services’ compliance to the Regulator of Social Housing’s consumer standards. You will work closely with senior officers to report on, and embed, a culture of strong governance through effective assurance.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting Housing Services in responding to customer feedback and regulatory changes.
2. Line management to Business Support Assistants who provide secretariat support to key Housing meetings.
3. Implementing and managing governance and assurance frameworks.
4. Providing organisational support to high level meetings.
5. Monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements, legislation, and codes of practice.
6. Leading on governance-related projects and process improvements.
About You
We are looking for a colleague with an eye for detail, who has:
1. Excellent organisational skills.
2. Experience of governance within a regulated environment.
3. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
4. Knowledge of housing sector regulations.
5. Proficiency in ICT applications (eg Word, Excel, databases, presentation software).
Progression & Development
This is a career-graded post (Bands H–J), offering structured progression based on qualifications and experience, including funded qualifications (CIH diploma/post graduate diploma in Housing and PRINCE2 project management). There is an expectation that the new post holder will be recruited as a Band H Officer.
