Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
This post is for a Locum consultant GP in Primary Care. This is a part-time fixed term post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated GP to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
Working 20 hours per week, Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm.
Applicants are required to hold Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK or equivalent qualifications), to be fully registered with the General Medical Council, and to be on the GP Register.
Main Duties of the Job
In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post holder will undertake a variety of duties including:
* Surgery consultations and emergencies
* Telephone consultations and queries
* Triaging
* Visiting patients at home
* Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
* Dealing with queries, patient test results, and medical reports
* Preparing referral letters for NHS/private
* Completing paperwork and correspondence in a timely manner
The post holder will also be expected to:
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems
* Record clear and contemporaneous IT-based consultation notes
* Compile and issue computer-generated repeat prescriptions
* Prescribe in accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines
* Manage clinical systems, including medical reviews

Qualifications
* GMC Registered
* MRCGP/Summative Assessment
* Any other relevant professional qualifications
* MPS/MDU membership
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience in practicing evidence-based medicine.
* Experience of working to prescribing budgets and referral pathways.
* Knowledge and delivery of the Quality Outcome Framework (QOF); Local and National Enhanced Services.
* Experience of using general practice clinical systems such as EMIS or SystmOne.
* Knowledge of the current General Practice environment.
Skills
* Innovative and keen to explore new ways of delivering care.
* Patient sensitivity.
Other
* Willingness to work on a rota basis to provide telephone advice to out-of-hours service in the event of a query.

Salary: £105,504 to £139,882 per annum pro rata (Grade YM 73)
