Job overview
We are recruiting for a Patient Transfer Liaison Assistant who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
You will be joining our new Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) at Lister Hospital. Our SAU provides a specialised service for the rapid assessment and treatment of a variety of surgical complications covering several specialties.
In this role, you will support the nursing staff with the transfer of patients to/from SAU as instructed by the Manager or nurse in charge. You will be expected to have a good eye for detail and great customer service skills.

Main duties of the job
As a Patient Transfer Liaison Assistant, your main day-to-day responsibilities will include:
1. Transportation of patients to and from the Unit to other clinical areas within the hospital.
2. Assisting with the transfer of patients from trolley to trolley/bed.
3. Collecting and transporting medical devices, pathology specimens, x-rays, and supplies.
4. Sorting and stocking of stores and preparing patient areas, e.g., making beds and cleaning room equipment.
5. Carrying out ancillary duties such as furniture removals and transfer of equipment to other areas of the hospital.
6. Dealing with general inquiries from staff, patients, visitors, and members of the general public in a helpful and courteous manner.

Person specification
Qualifications/training
* Basic general education – English & Maths
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent experience within a care environment
Previous Experience
* Clear & polite telephone skills and verbal communications
* Dealing with inquiries/complaints
* Ability to work closely with all levels of staff
* Adaptability, able to prioritize especially under pressure
* Customer service focused environment
* Work within a hospital environment
Knowledge
* Demonstrates knowledge of moving and handling
