Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Deputy Team Leader) within HMP Birmingham to join Birmingham Recovery Team. Birmingham Recovery Team provides the clinical substance misuse service at HMP Birmingham and the role involves assessing, planning, and treating prisoners who come into custody with substance/addictions related issues. As an integrated healthcare service, we work collaboratively with the Psychosocial team, Primary Care and Mental Health teams. It is an exciting time for the team here and we need a dynamic and eager person to join the team, bringing fresh ideas and a willingness to evolve the service. This role will provide the candidate with the opportunity to gain experience at leadership and management level- including staff supervision and support. As you may know this is a very busy time of change within the prison, an opportunity for us to maximise on those changes to make our own. The successful candidates will need excellent communication and organisational skills and setting their own work agenda in line with the job role and Trust and local HMPPS policies. Main duties of the job Applicants must be a Registered Nurse who are able to work in a challenging, dynamic and recovery focused environment. You will need to demonstrate a range of skills including the following: Effective leadership and management Staff supervision and appraisals Rota management Effective communication, empathy, self-awareness, compassion and critical self-reflection This role requires a minimum of 12-18 months experience at Band 5.
