University Hospital Monklands
Applications are invited to apply for a Consultant Haematologist post in NHSL. This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive team of 8 Consultants in a full-time capacity. This post contributes to the provision of a pan-Lanarkshire Clinical and Laboratory Haematology service.
Monklands Hospital holds a concentrated 16 bed in-patient unit (population >600,000) and there is on-site ITU, Renal and Respiratory medicine support. The Lanarkshire ENT and Infectious Disease units are also based at Monklands Hospital. Extensive specialist haematological diagnostic services are supported across all three sites. The Scottish PNH Clinic is based at Monklands hospital supported by the Lanarkshire Haematology service. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to develop a specialist interest in either malignant or non-malignant haematology.
Paediatric Haematology, Bone Marrow Transplantation and Haemophilia Services are based at Regional Facilities within Glasgow with which there are close links. MDT/MCN meetings are held by videoconferencing across Lanarkshire and with Glasgow.
The three Hospitals contain the major specialities with active postgraduate education programmes led by the Postgraduate Tutor and Director of Medical Education and a regular programme of medical, surgical and other speciality meetings. The Board and the Department strongly encourage post-graduate education and skill development.
