Summary We’re looking for a Senior Volunteering and Community Officer to join us at Shugborough Estate and help us to build and strengthen links with volunteers and local communities. You'll lead for access across the estate, bringing with you the knowledge and experience as well as the leadership skills to deliver a significant programme of improvements across the estate and wider portfolio. Shugborough Estate is committed to creating a fully accessible estate and you'll be critical to ensuring the on the ground delivery of these objectives as well as supporting and training staff and volunteers. As a seven day a week operation, you'll be required to work weekends and bank holidays. You'll be an integral part of the estate team, supporting the volunteer leads in all departments as well as leading on access across the estate. Click here for more information about this location What you'll be doing You’ll provide positive, flexible and inclusive opportunities for volunteering. You’ll also be working alongside the leadership team to develop and meet our strategic objectives with a specific focus on creating equal access for all staff, volunteers and visitors. You will have the knowledge and experience to drive access through every project, from planning to delivery. You’ll be the lead for volunteering throughout the estate. You’ll support our volunteer managers, helping them to build their confidence and capability, and you’ll get hands-on with day-to-day activities. You'll also lead the property Accessibility Network, supporting them to share their knowledge and lived experience to inform day to day planning, operations and project delivery. You’ll bring in changes that support the National Trust’s ambition to be a fully inclusive organisation, and you'll help to widen and deepen our existing relationships while also reaching out to future partners to discover what they need from us. You'll carry out duty management on a rota basis alongside property team members from across the estate. You'll be responsible on the day for the smooth running of the property during opening hours, acting as the main contact point for staff, volunteers, and customers in case of emergency, enquiry or complaint. Who we're looking for We’d love to hear from you if you’re: experienced in managing volunteers experienced in community engagement and involvement, as well as broader participation and working with partners adept at introducing volunteers to new approaches or products an organised person with good planning skills able to coach and support people, and used to managing, supervising and working alongside volunteers and community partners a skilled communicator.
