Job Title: Chef Location: Walton Bay, Clevedon (BS21), BS21 6EU Reports to: Head Chef Job Purpose: To plan, prepare and cook nutritious, well-balanced meals for residents, meeting individual dietary needs and promoting overall health and wellbeing. Ensure food hygiene and safety standards are consistently maintained in accordance with current legislation and care home policies. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and serve meals that are nutritious, appealing, and suited to the dietary requirements of elderly residents, including modified and special diets (e.g., diabetic, gluten-free, soft food). Collaborate with care staff and dietitians to create weekly meal plans that reflect resident preferences and nutritional needs. Ensure the kitchen and all food preparation areas are clean, hygienic, and meet environmental health standards. Monitor food stock levels, place orders, and manage inventory to minimize waste. Maintain accurate records for food safety, including temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and allergen information. Support and guide kitchen assistants, ensuring teamwork and efficient meal service. Follow all health and safety regulations, including COSHH, HACCP, and infection control procedures. Requirements: Proven experience as a chef or cook, ideally within a care home or healthcare setting. Knowledge of food safety, nutrition, and dietary requirements specific to elderly care. Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above). Excellent organizational and time management skills. Compassionate and respectful approach toward elderly residents. Desirable: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Catering or equivalent. Experience working with EMAR or similar systems (if applicable in kitchen settings). ADZN1_UKTJ
