Safe2Speak Domestic Abuse Services are commissioned by St Helens Council to deliver support to victims of Domestic Abuse across the region.
The Key Worker will work from the Refuge on a three-week rolling rota which will include working 1 in 3 lone working weekends. A flexible approach to work is essential for this role.
This is an important role in which you will:
* Manage your own caseload and time
* Work intensively with a number of clients to provide tailored support plan whilst in Refuge
* Managing risk, completing safety plans and making referrals to external support agencies.
* Support clients to be prepared to move on from Refuge.
* You will be responsible for keeping client files up to date and reviewing support plans on a regular basis.
* Provide emotional and practical support via 1-1 sessions
* You will advocate for your client and work collaboratively with other agencies to ensure individual needs are met and positive outcomes achieved.
* Representing clients on behalf of Refuge, at multi-agency meetings such as MARAC and Child Protection Conferences.
* Respond to enquiries from members of the public and professionals and be able to guide them through the local Domestic Abuse Pathway.
* Completing risk assessments

To be successful in this role you will:
* Complete assessments and reviews for individuals and deliver support which is outcome focused and which promotes independence.
* Develop, plan and deliver 1:1 sessions with clients either in the Refuge, their own homes or by assisting to access services with the local community in line with their assessment and support plan.
* Plan and assist with client resettlement into communities; completing home visits and liaising with other professionals and services to maximise sustainability of tenancy
* Ensure residents are adhering to the guidelines and conditions of occupancy and carry out first and second level warning for breaches whilst in Refuge.
* Provide assistance, information and support to callers of the 24-hour helpline and carry out emergency admissions where required.
* Complete agreed client-based records, contact sheets, and safeguarding logs.
* Support with in house Domestic Abuse training
* Facilitate tenant engagement activities, seeking tenant feedback.
* To promote safety and protection of vulnerable adults and children by ensuring that all safeguarding issues and concerns are reported promptly in accordance with St Helens Borough Council’s and Torus Safeguarding Policies.
* To be well informed about policy, procedure, organisational changes and other relevant legislation, regulations and guidance to provide up to date information to customers when needed. To ensure that such information is shared with colleagues.
* To attend partnerships meetings, including Family Action Meetings, Core groups and Case Conferences where required.
* To ensure that handover information is distributed in a timely manner and information for reports such as MARAC updates are shared to Refuge Coordinators and the wider team where required.
* Maintain the security of the building and keep occupants safe, ensuring clients are aware of health and safety issues and behave in a way that promotes good health and safety for themselves and others in refuge services
* To have a positive attitude to both Torus and towards your own learning and development, and proactively seek opportunities to develop professional competencies including IT skills.
* To attend internal training, team briefings, team meetings and corporate updates.
* To have a flexible approach to working hours and support the cover of shifts during periods of staff absence
