We are currently partnered with one of Cambridgeshire's best-known civil and structural engineering consultancies as they look to add a talented Chartered Structural Engineer to their team. They have over 25 years' experience delivering engineering solutions to the construction and property industry.
Above all else, you will be a deeply ambitious engineer who is able to inspire and motivate a team while also remaining technically and commercially excellent. Ideally, you will have a flair for developing business, as well as supporting more junior staff on their pathway to getting chartered.
You will work across diverse sectors including commercial, residential, academia, healthcare, listed buildings, and beyond.
They operate locally, nationally, and internationally, aiming to provide prompt, personal, competitive professional service on all of their projects. In particular, their knowledge of the local market, architects, developers, and contractors enables them to provide efficient and cost-effective designs and advice to their clients.
Bespoke private developments have become a feature of the work at this consultancy, providing structural design services for single dwellings as well as small or large-scale residential developments. They advise on foundation design requirements, arrange for site inspections, and provide accompanying reports on ground conditions. In addition to this, they provide structural design calculations, specifications, and drawings for new residential properties using all forms of structural materials, including highly insulated and energy-efficient formats.
They have also developed a reputation for alterations and refurbishment, providing structural design advice and information on alterations and refurbishments to a wide range of buildings, including residential, commercial, educational, and healthcare facilities. They provide initial feasibility reports on proposed alterations or refurbishment measures, which can be followed up with more detailed inspections and investigations as necessary. They develop structural design proposals in consultation with architectural and other advisers, with accompanying provision of calculation, specification, and drawing information to reflect the size, nature, and complexity of particular projects.
Such alterations and refurbishments include:
1. Extensions
2. Removal of internal walls
3. Large glazed openings in external walls
4. Basements
5. Wind frames
6. Lowering of ground floors
7. Garage annexe conversions
8. Swimming pools
Company benefits include the option to carry forward up to five days of annual leave to the following year, a 5% matched pension contribution, regular CPD activity, as well as support towards getting chartered with the ICE or IStructE.
