Senior / Lead Environmental Engineer – Energy Transition & Decarbonisation\n Location: London or Aberdeen\n Employment Type: Permanent\n\nOverview\n As the global energy sector accelerates toward a lower-carbon future, our client—a leading energy consultancy—is expanding its environmental and engineering teams to meet the demands of energy transition and decarbonisation. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking business working across the UK and international markets, with a strong focus on renewable energies, energy efficiency, and carbon management.\n\nThis role would suit an experienced environmental or energy engineer seeking to make a tangible impact on decarbonisation strategy and emissions management, while contributing to technically complex and meaningful projects.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nTake the lead in managing the Energy Management portfolio, including ISO 50001, ESOS compliance, and related energy reduction initiatives\n\nProvide technical input and mentor junior engineers across energy and emissions scopes\n\nContribute to the identification and assessment of decarbonisation opportunities such as methane reduction, flare management, and integration of renewable energy solutions\n\nSupport delivery of UK Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) compliance activities\n\nLiaise with clients to ensure delivery aligns with scope, timeline, and budget expectations\n\nReview engineering design documents in the context of environmental impacts and emissions management\n\nPlan and facilitate energy and emissions workshops with internal and external stakeholders\n\nAbout You\n\nDegree qualified in an environmental, engineering, or relevant scientific discipline\n\nExperience in a similar role, ideally with a background in consulting or project delivery\n\nWorking knowledge of ESOS; Lead Assessor accreditation is advantageous\n\nFamiliarity with international best practices in emissions reduction and reporting (e.g., OGMP 2.0, ERAPs)\n\nKnowledge of UK/EU Emissions Trading Scheme and associated compliance activities\n\nUnderstanding of pollution control and mitigation techniques is preferred\n\nExperience in energy, renewables, or oil and gas sectors is beneficial, but not essential\n\nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills\n\nThis is a unique opportunity to shape and influence environmental performance within a supportive and innovative organisation.
