Job Description:
Abbott's Diabetes Care business designs, develops, and manufactures cutting-edge blood glucose monitoring technology for both home and hospital use, including the revolutionary Freestyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System. At our Centre of Excellence in Witney, we design, develop, and manufacture test strips and biosensors used by patients and healthcare professionals for diabetes management.
Due to strong business growth and industry-leading product development, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Product Investigation Engineer to join our expanding, highly skilled team. The role can be on either a 4 on 4 off Day Shift or Night Shift basis.
Reporting to the Complaints Investigation Team Manager, you will support the complaint investigation process by troubleshooting and identifying root causes related to medical device product returns using various electronic equipment and software. Through cross-functional collaboration, trend monitoring, and investigative practices, you will recommend changes to improve product reliability and manufacturing yield by eliminating failure modes.
Key responsibilities include:
* Troubleshooting complaint returns to determine root causes of failures using schematic diagrams and equipment such as soldering irons, microscopes, oscilloscopes, and software applications.
* Ensuring accurate, quality, and timely documentation of activities.
* Translating engineering investigation methodologies into procedures for the Complaint Handling Group and qualifying new procedures/equipment as needed.
* Monitoring product trends, correlating with customer observations, and investigating root causes.
The ideal candidate will be apprentice-trained or degree-qualified in electronic/electrical engineering with proven industry experience. Experience in Quality Assurance within a regulated environment, exposure to nano-technology troubleshooting, and fault-finding are preferred. You should be comfortable working with cross-functional teams and capable of owning individual tasks.
In addition to a competitive salary, Abbott offers an attractive benefits package including a defined-contribution pension scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme. We also promote employee well-being through initiatives such as onsite allotments, fitness campaigns, beekeeping, yoga, and more.
