Part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, the National Composites Centre (NCC) is an independent, open-access technology centre focused on addressing some of the world’s most complex engineering challenges. You will join this dynamic organisation as it embarks on implementing its new 5-year strategy, one that is growth and impact focused.
We're recruiting at a variety of levels within our research engineering team, and are open to hearing from people with a variety of skills. As a research engineer at the NCC you'll:
1. Support research projects with a range of technical engineering activities according to customer needs
2. Apply innovative approaches to evaluate and develop technical solutions to solve engineering challenges
3. Contribute to cross-functional activities by building internal relationships across the NCC
We're open-minded about what good looks like, but would love to see any of the following:
1. Experience of solving problems in Automated Fibre Placement (AFP), Automated Tape Laying (ATL), composite deposition, or other innovative automated processing methods
2. Experience of new material and equipment qualification for the aerospace industry
3. Experience of automated composite processing for the aerospace industry
4. Automation experience with an understanding of robotics
5. Experience of integrating industrial IoT devices
6. A project engineer profile, with the ability to work closely with customers and internal engineers
7. An analytical and data-driven approach applied to manufacturing
