About Us
We are recruiting for Mechanical Fitters / Mechanical Technicians to join a business who specialise in the servicing and maintenance of heavy industrial plant across the power, chemical and water sectors.
The Role
As a Mechanical Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving mechanical systems and equipment to ensure operational efficiency. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge and a passion for problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical systems and equipment - pumps, valves, compressors etc.
2. Diagnose faults and carry out corrective actions to minimise downtime.
3. Assist with the installation and commissioning of new mechanical systems and equipment.
4. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and company procedures.
5. Collaborate with engineers and other team members to optimise system performance.
6. Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work.
Requirements:
1. Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (NVQ Level 3, BTEC, ONC, or equivalent) along with a time served apprenticeship.
2. Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician/Fitter/Engineer or similar role in an industrial or engineering environment.
3. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
4. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
5. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
6. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
7. A full UK driving licence is required for occasional work away at client sites.
