Applications are invited for a post in the Orthopaedic Department at the Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells Trust. The Orthopaedic Department has recently expanded with the opening of the new Kent and Medway Orthopaedic Centre at Maidstone Hospital, that will provide elective orthopaedic services to the population of Kent and Medway.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Assistant Patient Pathway Coordinator within the Trauma and Orthopaedic department. This is a busy, varied and challenging role where you will be specialising in our Adult Orthopaedic Service. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and booking outpatient clinics.
Essential skills for this role include an excellent telephone manner, working using own initiative, excellent communication with patients and clinical staff, outstanding organisation and time management, and competence in using Microsoft Office packages with good keyboard skills.
The role is based at Maidstone; however, cross site working will be required throughout the month due to the nature of some of the admin tasks. You will have excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with a positive and solution-focused attitude, to ensure clinics are booked effectively and patients are managed appropriately along their pathway.
Clinic appointments and knowledge of patient waiting lists would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided. Applicants will ideally have previous NHS or healthcare experience (though this is not necessary) and administration experience. Knowledge of systems such as Allscripts and Medirota would be beneficial though training will be given.
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust ranks among the top 10 NHS Trusts nationwide and was named the second-best Trust to work for in the South East in the 2023 NHS Staff Survey.
We are a large acute hospital trust in south-east England, providing general hospital services and specialist care to around 600,000 residents in West Kent and East Sussex. With a dedicated and diverse team of over 8,000 staff, we are proud to offer specialised cancer services to over two million people through the Kent Oncology Centre.
