Pharmacy Operational Services Supervisor
A vacancy has arisen for a Pharmacy Operational Supervisor in the Pharmacy Operational Services team at the Conquest Hospital, working primarily within the dispensary and stock distribution services. The post holder will be responsible for organising the daily workload and supervising the team in a busy Pharmacy department. We are looking for an applicant with enthusiasm and innovative thinking. Proven organisational and team leading skills are essential along with good verbal communication skills. Experience of working and supervising in a pharmacy environment is necessary along with an associated NVQ or equivalent qualification. A good standard of health & fitness is necessary as this work can be strenuous. This is a full-time post. Hours include weekend work and bank holiday working on a rota basis.
Main Duties of the Job
Working as part of the multi-disciplinary pharmacy team, the role involves the supply of medicines as stock to wards and clinics, the issuing of patient-specific medications for in-patients, outpatient clinics, and for discharge, stock management, and the day-to-day maintenance of the robotic automatic dispensing system and ward-based automated systems (Omnicells). There is a requirement to support new and trainee staff as and when required. This post requires the post holder to work across all East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust sites; however, a designated base site of the Conquest Hospital will be assigned.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good level of education including GCSEs in Maths & English (C or above)
* GPhC recognised Level 3 qualification in Pharmacy Service Skills NVQ (QCF) or equivalent
* Evidence of additional relevant training in pharmacy stores / stock management & customer service
Experience
* Previous hospital pharmacy experience
* Customer service experience and understanding of customer needs
* Pharmacy Stores and Distribution experience
* Supervision of staff and services
* Knowledge and experience of pharmacy automated systems such as automated storage systems (Omnicell) and automated dispensing systems (Robotic dispensing)
Skills
* Knowledge and understanding of pharmacy procedures related to the supply of medicines
* Knowledge of legislation affecting pharmacy practice
* Understanding of COSHH for handling hazardous pharmaceuticals
* Understanding of The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
* Knowledge of the NHS Constitution
