Field Service Engineer (Home based - Birmingham region)
cGBP35,000 basic + vehicle + extensive overtime (OTE 1st year GBP47k+)
Our client has been established for almost half a century and is recognised as the UK's market leader in the design, manufacture, and service of standard and bespoke recycling and waste management special purpose machinery. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and proactive multi-skilled Field Service Engineer to complement their professional maintenance and service engineering team.
Responsibilities:
1. Complete servicing of Waste Handling Systems comprising of balers, compactors, shredders, conveyors, tippers, and other waste handling equipment, performing fault diagnosis and repair as required, as well as PPM maintenance in accordance with schedules and highlighting potential issues.
2. Installing new equipment and delivering associated training to customers and operatives, as well as decommissioning machines when required.
3. Evaluating and resolving electrical and mechanical problems, supporting fellow service Engineers, and documenting breakdown and service visits including reports and photos via tablet, highlighting any parts that may be required for further works.
4. Carry out LOLER Inspections on lifting equipment.
5. Accurately document breakdown visits/service visits on your tablet, taking photos.
6. Hydraulics repair and replacement and Welding/minor fabrication if required.
7. Ensuring that you follow Health & Safety procedures at all times.
Requirements:
To be considered for this varied and challenging multi-skilled Field Service Engineer position, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will demonstrate at least 3 years' previous experience of working on electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. Knowledge of Siemens S7/LOGO fault find, modification, and debug is distinctly advantageous.
Experience in maintaining waste compactors and vertical and horizontal balers will again prove favourable, with excellent customer-facing skills and commitment to the highest levels of customer satisfaction essential, as is a full clean UK driving licence. You will have achieved relevant engineering (mechanical and electrical) qualifications (ideally C&G or HNC or above) and ideally hold 18th Edition Electrical qualifications.
