Interim Social Worker for Learning Disabilities

Pay Rate: £20.85 per hour PAYE
Working Hours: 37 Monday - Friday, normal working hours
Assignment Duration: This opening assignment is for 3 months (tbc)

There are some social work posts in the Learning Disabilities Care Management and Transitions teams. In these posts, you would have the opportunity to work in partnership with people in Leeds with learning disabilities and their carers and a range of other professionals and colleagues, including health and provider organisations.
Responsible for providing a high quality and comprehensive social work service to adults, carers, and the community in accordance with statutory guidelines and the Authority’s needs, policies, and practices. Responsible for managing a caseload involving high levels of challenging and complexity including the assessment and management of risk.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Utilising strength-based approaches to empower individuals and support customers to maximise their potential.
2. Working in partnership to assess an individual's needs, support plan, and help to arrange a variety of services and support to meet needs; utilising approaches that empower and support customers' choice and control.
3. Meeting the challenges of both personalisation and working within significant financial constraints to develop creative support plans that deliver personalised outcomes and cost-effective solutions.
4. Working in partnership to keep people safe and reduce risks. Depending on the role, you may need skills and experience to undertake safeguarding investigations and develop and implement protection plans; and to assess risk and implement risk management plans.
5. Mental Capacity Assessments with individuals and, where appropriate, make best interest decisions.
6. Duty work on a rota basis, supported by lead duty workers.
7. CHC checklists and the care management of people with complex health needs.
Key Requirements:
1. Appropriate social work professional qualification (BSc, BA, MA, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
2. Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
3. Driving License.
4. Considerable experience working in a statutory setting.
5. Experience of working with people with Learning Disabilities.
6. Planning, managing, prioritising, and evaluating work with service users.
7. Providing a high level of effective written and verbal communication.
8. Overcoming resistance and exercising assertiveness where appropriate.
9. Negotiating, challenging, and managing conflict.
