Job Summary
An exciting secondment opportunity is available for a Practice Development Nurse within Corporate Nursing, supporting the Stroke and Care of the Elderly wards at University Hospital Lewisham.
Reporting to the Practice Development Lead Nurse, the role focuses on fostering a progressive learning environment, supporting the development of nursing staff in the LMC Division. The post holder will also be leading the accredited 'Foundations of Stroke Care' programme. The post holder will provide bedside clinical support, promote inter-professional learning, and contribute to corporate practice development initiatives.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate should be a Band 6 qualified nurse with at least two years of acute care experience, along with teaching, mentoring, and assessment skills supported by a post-registration teaching qualification (desirable).

Main duties of the job
1. Be working on the allocated wards within the Division of LMC to support nurses in developing their practice.
2. Act as the Course Lead for the accredited 'Foundations in Stroke Care,' overseeing the delivery and evaluation of the programme to ensure high-quality learning outcomes.
3. Demonstrate specialist-nursing knowledge in clinical settings, and support the advancement of knowledge and skills using approved assessment procedures.
4. Facilitate the learning and continuing development of all nursing staff within the department and division, ensuring that education is responsive to service developments.
5. Assist in production and evaluation of learning contracts and objectives for nursing staff for whom there is a capability issue in conjunction with the Ward Manager/Department Lead.
6. Work collaboratively with the Practice Development Lead Nurse and engage with the Corporate agenda with regards to Practice Development issues.

Qualifications
Essential
* NMC Registered Nurse
* A Degree in Nursing or equivalent
* A clinical expert either through formal qualification (diploma/degree) and/or extensive clinical experience pertinent to the area.
* Other appropriate post basic qualifications and experience
* Appropriate Mentorship/ Practice Supervisor/ Practice Assessor qualification
Desirable
* Teaching qualification (PG Certificate Practice Education or equivalent) or a willingness to work towards one

* Significant experience of Band 6 acute care experience
* Significant and proven clinical and management skills within a relevant clinical field
* Evidence of effective multi-disciplinary working.
* Previous involvement in quality initiatives.
