About the role
The Housing with Support residential service is a long-term integrated social housing program for people living with severe and enduring psychosocial disability. The Haven residences are staffed 7 days a week and designed like a ‘home away from home’ funded through client’s NDIS packages with practice guided by Mind’s Model of Recovery Oriented Practice, Haven service model and Dual Disability framework. The service works collaboratively with clients providing personalised 1:1 support, personal care, shared supports and group activities based on strengths and goals identified in an individual’s recovery plan to build daily living skills, strengthen relationships with families and carers, enhance social connections and community networks, and grow confidence and capacity to live safely in the community.
We are seeking a compassionate, resilient Mental Health Support Worker to work on a 24/7 rotating roster within the Haven property, in Colac. You will play an integral role providing positive person-centred, recovery-oriented supports to clients to achieve their wellbeing goals, develop capacity and life skills, strengthen social connections, enhance support networks and grow confidence to live independently. This position requires travel requirement to use a privately owned vehicle for work purposes.
Key responsibilities
* Deliver high quality services and facilitate positive educational and social experiences.
* Support clients to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team offering specialised psychosocial support.
* Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.
* Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to client’s recovery goals.
* Provide personal care - assist clients with personal care tasks where required.
What you’ll bring
* Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate III) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health-related field.
* Unrestricted Australian driver’s license, and ability to utilise personal vehicle and to transport residents as required.
* Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
* Ability to provide information and mentoring to build capability, establish social relationships, create community networks, facilitating group activities and access to relevant services.
* Current First Aid and CPR certifications and ability to perform these duties as required as part of the role.
* Current NDIS Worker Screening Check Clearance.
