Tower Hamlets is one of the capital’s most diverse boroughs and home to the Tower of London, Canary Wharf, historic riverfront at Wapping and vibrant places like Brick Lane, Shoreditch, and Whitechapel - all in just eight square miles. We have just moved into our fantastic brand-new offices in Whitechapel (The old Royal London Hospital)
We have one of the fastest growing populations along with being the most densely populated in the UK with more homes being built here than almost anywhere else. Our economy has the third largest output in the UK with 291,000 employees working for 16,925 businesses.
The Council is a place of rapid change with the highest rates of housing growth in the country and has in recent years had amongst the highest levels of business growth and the highest levels of deprivation nationwide. We embrace the responsibilities that come with a borough of our size, population, geography, and profile. We are a council where people make things happen.
This mix of old and new, combined with award winning parks, international cultural destinations, world class learning institutions in the UK, makes Tower Hamlets one of the most popular places to live, work, study and visit.
Tower Hamlets is looking for an enthusiastic candidate to assist in the review of current parking controls and the delivery of new parking schemes and amendments. The successful applicant will be able to communicate effectively and prepare plans and reports for approval. They will also be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of parking legislation and Traffic Management Orders.
This will be a challenging but rewarding position at the heart of the council that will suit a motivated individual with experience in Parking or Highways related services. Essential to this post is the applicants ability to demonstrate the interpersonal skills required to deal with the many issues raised by our residents and businesses. In return, they will gain valuable experience of managing a range of parking schemes and projects from feasibility through to implementation.
Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.
Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class.
We welcome applicants interested in flexible working arrangements and also applicants who live in the borough.
