We have opening within our pharmacy trials team here at University Hospitals Birmingham (covering our Heartlands, Good Hope, Solihull sites) to lead on our trial portfolio working closely with our Trials Pharmacists and rest of the trials dispensary team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced pharmacy technician to ensure the review, smooth set up and running of our trials. Ideally you will have knowledge of managing cancer trials and working with pharmacy aseptic services to deliver trials. You will have a close working relationship with the research teams, R&D and trial sponsors and therefore must have good communication and negotiating skills.
You'll have access to learning, development and training opportunities to allow you to acquire the skills and knowledge to manage a service and deliver the best possible pharmacy trials service for our patients and service users.
Responsibilities
The post holder will:
1. Be responsible for the smooth day-to-day management of the trials pharmacy service from our dedicated trials pharmacy providing a safe, efficient and timely service to our service users.
2. Have a keen eye for detail and have the technical knowledge of medicines management to review trial documents to allow successful review, set up and delivery of our investigational medicinal products.
3. Have the ability to work autonomously and within a team with excellent communication skills.
4. Manage their time effectively and be able to act as a team leader, provide direction and motivate others within the team.

Person specification
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 (Pharmacy Services) plus accredited underpinning knowledge BTEC/ City & Guilds (in Pharmaceutical Science) or equivalent.
* Professional Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* NVQ level 4 in management or equivalent knowledge and experience.
* Evidence of continued Professional Development.
* Specialist formal training in Good Clinical Practice(GCP).
* Professional Registration with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.
Experience
* Broad, up-to date and in depth knowledge of issues relating to clinical trials including knowledge of ICHGCP guidelines and Clinical Trials Legislation.
* High level knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), MHRA licensing requirements, COSHH.
* Minimum 6 years post-qualification pharmacy experience.
* Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
* Demonstrates an understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession.
Additional Criteria
* Good communication skills -- written, verbal and electronic.
* Good IT skills -- ability to use a variety of electronic systems for recording and reporting data.
* Ability to work on own or within a team, able to act as team leader, motivating others.
