Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Skipton, Salary: 30-40k DOE
Are you a dynamic Mechanical Engineer looking for your next progression opportunity?
We have an exciting role working for a bespoke machinery manufacturer who seeks an enthusiastic engineer who they can continue to train and develop under one-to-one guidance.
This is a challenging and interesting role in an innovative company delivering solutions to customers both in the UK and globally.
You will join a well-established, multi-disciplined team, initially working on the company's standard product range. Once up to speed, you will then have the opportunity to work on high-value bespoke projects.
The day-to-day role of Mechanical Design Engineer will include:
1. Assisting with mechanical designs for automated special purpose machinery
2. Working in conjunction with the electrical and software teams to achieve successful system integration
3. Problem-solving and dealing with design issues
4. Undertaking mechanical and material calculations
5. Producing 2D and 3D SolidWorks drawings
6. Ensuring specifications and quality standards and managing CE documentation
7. Producing and ensuring the quality of all mechanical BOMs and recording in PDM/PLM & ERP systems
8. Creation of parts, assembly, and identification drawings
9. Supporting the shop floor with build problems
The ideal Mechanical Design Engineer will be:
1. Someone who lives and breathes engineering, is already working in mechanical design but looking for their next challenge
2. Passionate about design, practical, with excellent problem-solving abilities
3. A confident user of 3D software, ideally SolidWorks
4. Apprentice trained and hold HNC, HND, or Degree qualified within Mechanical Engineering
5. Familiar with the R&D function including CAD design, documentation, prototyping, build, and test
6. Have some knowledge of system integration
7. Ideally have previous design experience in sheet metal, welding fabrication, or bespoke machinery design or similar
8. Have confident knowledge of design for manufacture
9. Be familiar with current CE directives and standards
10. Ideally have experience of hand calculations or structural analysis software
11. Your own transport is essential due to location
