The University of Glasgow has been changing the world for more than 573 years, and today we are one of the world's top 100 universities. We are delighted to have been awarded Scottish University of the Year by the Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024, demonstrating that we are not only one of the best universities in the United Kingdom, but one of the best universities for the world. Our people have always been at the forefront of innovation, and our past achievements inspire our current world changers.
This is a great opportunity for an Animal Facility Manager to join the University’s Estates Directorate on a permanent basis.
The Biological Services Department at the University of Glasgow is recruiting a dedicated, organised, and driven individual to support world-class research and ensure the care and welfare of laboratory animals.
As an Animal Facility Manager, you will be a member of the Senior Management Team and play a key role between facility staff, researchers, and veterinary/compliance colleagues. We are particularly interested in recruiting someone with aquatics, zoological or aviary experience to lead a team that care for a diverse number of species under ASPA.
In this role you will manage a Biological Services Animal Facility by planning, overseeing and reviewing activities to ensure effective and efficient day-to-day operation. You will provide a professional, high welfare and legislatively compliant service to researchers and a positive, safe working environment for all technical staff within a well-maintained facility.
The Facilities Team provides both husbandry and welfare support, as legally required under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (ASPA) as well as specialist technical support for researchers who work with laboratory animals.
