Wood is recruiting for a Project Accountant to join the consulting team within the UK, ensuring accuracy of management reporting across their specified service line. The role is a full-time staff position and can be based in our Aberdeen, Glasgow or Staines offices on a Hybrid basis. LI-Hybrid The Role The Project Accountant will be entrusted to ensure exceptional quality and accuracy of reporting on all projects across their designated service line. Reporting into the UK Finance Manager you will assist the UK finance team. You will focus on project accounting, reporting, and process improvement. The role will ensure accurate and timely accounting on all relevant projects. This will include supporting both finance and operational teams on various reporting requirements. Competitive salary with regular salary reviews to ensure we are rewarding at the right level in line with the market Flexible benefits package ; inclusive of 33 days annual leave (including public holidays), generous contributory pension scheme, private medical cover, 4x base salary life insurance; all of these and more that can be adapted to suit your own lifestyle Commitment to continued professional development; development plans that are tailored to your individual needs and interests Global connections : join experts around the world who are at the leading edge of our industry, shaping the standards of our profession Responsibilities Responsibility for all financial matters including accurate and timely completion of monthly reporting, optimising financial performance for respective service line Responsible for end to end project accounting activities for the respective service line and preparation of monthly financial reports covering P&L, AR / Unbilled, Backlog and utilisation Responsible for month end close activities in Oracle system to ensure results are accurately reported and analysed Engagement with commercial and project controls team on post contract award phase in terms of margin analysis looking for opportunities to drive improvements and commercial efficiencies, and attending key project reviews to ensure that reported financials are accurate Preparation of annual budget, forecasts and rolling forecasts in conjunction with management, including validation / challenge over backlog, inputs from BD and operations Responsible for driving sustainable working capital improvements and/or maintaining performance working with operational management, project managers, supply chain and other relevant areas to optimise cash collection and minimise DSO, including customer relationships and reporting Partner with shared services to ensure project billing is up to date and drive cash collection for the respective service line Ensure all relevant finance reconciliations are prepared, analysed, and reviewed on a monthly basis and enable any corrective actions to be taken in a timely manner Engagement with external, internal and client auditors to support successful completion of audits Ensure that an effective control environment exists through compliance with all Group control frameworks, policies, and procedures as applicable Responsible for identifying and highlighting opportunities for continuous improvement within projects and sharing of best practice within the function Qualifications What makes you remarkable? Expected: Further education through College or University with a recognised accounting qualification Previous experience of Management accounting Proficient user of Excel & PowerPoint Experience of ERP/ forecasting systems Good stakeholder management skills Excellent communication skills both verbal and written Highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines without compromising on accuracy Good problem-solving skills with a focus on brining solutions to the table Desirable: Fully qualified or working towards one of the following CIMA / ACCA / CPA / ACA Previous experience working with Oracle Sound commercial understanding
