Job summary This 10 PA post is focussed on supporting the major trauma network then the prosthetic service with additional activities with the intrathecal baclofen pump service and community neurorehabilitation. Opportunities to work in the inpatient rehabilitation wards (neurorehabilitation and stroke rehabilitation) and spinal pathway can be considered in the future. The two main healthcare providers in Plymouth are the University Hospitals Plymouth (UHP) NHS Trust, that runs most of the inpatient services and the acute hospital, and Livewell Southwest (LSW), social enterprise providing integrated health and social care services that also manages some inpatients units (e.g.: mental health and neurorehabilitation). The right person for the job will have broad rehabilitation medicine skills and a CCT/CESR in rehabilitation medicine with an interest in prosthetics and major trauma. You will be able to provide completely person centred care, instinctively involving patients in decisions regarding their care in a mix of inpatient and community settings. You will be an integral part of a wider team who are committed to providing a new, integrated approach to prosthetic rehabilitation across the acute and community providers in Plymouth. Main duties of the job This job spans 2 main teams - mostly involved with the acute hospital major trauma team and secondarily with the prosthetics service. Professional support comes from the Rehabilitation Medicine colleagues: one consultant to be mostly based at University Hospital Plymouth with cross cover on the planned activities and two consultants based at Mount Gould Community Hospital. The consultant job plans are based on a 7.5:2.5 DCC:SPA ratio. There are additional opportunities in medical education and the rehabilitation medicine services already provided (outpatients, spasticity etc). Your peer support will be in our community physicians and rehabilitation medicine group unified by the care of people, outside the acute hospital, limited by frailty, neurological or severe illness. Our community group has close relationships to other teams such as adult psychiatry, community therapy, crisis response and long term condition nurses.
