This role combines on-site engineering expertise with leadership and office responsibilities to deliver high-quality, energy-efficient heating solutions for our clients. You will oversee the cyclical service, maintenance, installation, and repair of various heating systems, including air and ground source heat pumps, unvented DHW cylinders, and air conditioning units. Key duties include supervising and mentoring staff, managing project delivery, conducting fault diagnosis and repairs (including F-gas work), ensuring quality control, and providing training. Additionally, you will be responsible for sourcing parts, managing contract requirements, and supporting the future growth strategy of Liberty Group through the successful execution of both planned and responsive maintenance services.

Responsibilities for the HVAC & Renewable Technologies Manager include:
Provide technical expertise in diagnosing and repairing heat pump and associated heating system faults on-site
Offer guidance and mentorship to the heat pump and renewables service, repair, and installation teams
Support the development of the renewable workforce through training and identifying learning opportunities
Oversee and manage the installation of domestic air source heat pump systems
Plan and coordinate projects to ensure timely completion within budget and compliance standards
Perform system design assessments, load calculations, and component selection
Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues, implementing effective solutions
Ensure installations meet MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) standards and building regulations
Train, mentor, and supervise junior engineers and installation teams
Foster a collaborative, safety-conscious working environment
Carry out on-site audits of engineers, including work-in-progress and post-completion quality control checks
Conduct site surveys and consult with clients to tailor solutions to their needs
Provide post-installation support, including maintenance, repairs, and performance optimization, while establishing this capability within the engineering team
Stay up to date with industry advancements and contribute to developing best practices
Identify opportunities for operational and technical improvements in service delivery
Perform additional duties as required to meet business and people needs
What we are looking for in our ideal HVAC & Renewable Technologies Manager:
Proven experience in installation, service, and maintenance of air source heat pumps
F-Gas Certification (Category 1)
Strong knowledge of MCS standards, building regulations, and renewable heating incentives (e.g., RHI, Boiler Upgrade Scheme)
Leadership and project management skills
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Heat Pump Design accreditation (e.g., BPEC or equivalent)
Experience with other renewable technologies (e.g., ground source heat pumps, solar thermal, air conditioning, unvented cylinders)
Experience managing multiple installation teams or projects
ACS Qualifications CCN1, HTR1, CKR1, CENWAT
Understanding of gas legislation
Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Gas, Plumbing, Heating, or Electrical Installation
I.T. Literacy (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Teams, MS Outlook)
Valid UK driving license
Relevant work and contract supervision experience
Strong commercial acumen and Health & Safety knowledge
Time management and workload prioritisation skills
Excellent customer service, preferably in social housing
