A CQC-rated 'good' organisation with 'outstanding' features, we are working towards university hospital status, having achieved teaching hospital status in 2019.
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 as a Theatre Scrub Practitioner to join our Captain Sir Tom Moore Theatre elective service. Relevant qualifications are required for NMC/AHP registrants. Please see person specification in the attached job description.
We welcome applications with experience, newly qualified Nurses and ODP's, or students who are due to qualify within the next 12 months. You will be fully supported and looked after by all perioperative practitioners in this department. We are a very caring team, with the full support from the line manager.

You should be forward thinking and passionate about providing a high standard of patient care and equality, with an enthusiastic approach in teaching/supporting students and colleagues.
Practitioners will be team players with a flexible attitude to the service requirements, and a defined awareness of the importance of service delivery.
In return for your dedication and enthusiasm, we offer a fully supported preceptorship and core competency programme championed by our Perioperative Practice Education team. Continuing professional development is available via both in-house and university-based training initiatives such as a Scrub Circulating Course, Advanced Life Support and with regular CPD reviews to support progress in all aspects.
About us
Captain Sir Tom Moore building (Halton site) is a site with four laminar flow theatres and perform a wide range of orthopaedic surgery, such as elective orthopaedics, sports injury, joint revision, and ambulatory trauma cases. We also perform general surgery.
Warrington Hospital
There are eight theatres on the Warrington acute site which provides services for the following specialties: Gynaecology, Obstetrics, General Surgery including laparoscopic surgery, Urology, Breast Surgery, ENT, Dental, Colorectal, Ophthalmic, Trauma & Orthopaedics, and Paediatrics.
24-hour Trauma, Obstetric and Emergency service.
The Nightingale building(Halton site)
The Nightingale building is part of our elective general surgery hospital which has two theatres for elective and Chronic Pain services.

Job responsibilities
You will also have opportunities to work across sites (based on service demand) at the Nightingale Building (Halton Hospital Site) and at Warrington Hospital to support Childrens Surgery and patients who require enhanced clinical support.
It will be reflected in your contract to include late weekends and night duties across all Trust sites, to ensure all essential services are covered. However, at CSTM theatres we currently only support a weekday provision.
Contracted full time hours for CSTM department are Monday-Friday:
3 x shifts 08.00-17.30
1 x shift 08.00-19.00

Skills, Knowledge and Competencies
* Comprehensive applied Anatomy and Physiology for Relevant clinical area.
* How evidence-based practice can support patient care.
* Knowledge in legal requirements relating to patients and staff.
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance Agenda.
* Effective Communication Skills (written, verbal and non-verbal).
* Effective organisation skills, including time management and prioritisation.

Experience
* Recent experience in acute care settings.
